Tim and I celebrated thirty years of marriage this past week. I know that we say this too much but "time sure flies!"
I should have put up some early pictures of us but didn't. This union that started out with two young "kids" that didn't have a clue grew into a something we are happy to have become. We realize we are still growing and becoming and won't quit until we die.
Our plans were to leave the children with Whitney and Ryan and have some time alone for a few days. But things happened and those plans changed.
On our anniversary evening we went out for supper to The Buffalo Grill with my sister-in-law, her mother and step-dad, and Daniel and Leah. It was fun. Afterwards we went to a movie, got home late (for me), and still had to pack for our two day trip to Medora.
We were on the road early the next day and stopped to eat breakfast at The Cracker Barrel in Bismarck. Whitney and my favorite waitress took our order. The children shopped at the little store there where Leah purchased a stuffed cat as she "didn't bring anything to play with!"
We also shopped at the strip mall across the road from The Cracker Barrel where some of us found some shoes we were needing at Shoe Carnival.
Medora sure is a beautiful place. We had not been there, other than driving past it last spring, since Daniel was about one year old. We had reservations at the Rough Rider Motel, pitchfork fondue, and the musical. We had plenty of time before supper to walk the whole town and drive up into Theodore Roosevelt National Park where we took these pictures beside the Little Missouri River.
I love the scenery.
And would have preferred to camp by the river instead of staying in the motel. But for two days it was easier to do it the way we did.
Our supper was good and the musical was great. I knew that Leah would really enjoy a horseback ride. Daniel and I didn't want to go on it so Tim took her the next morning. She grinned so hard and loved her horse, Dynamite. The guide said she was a natural.
Tim's horse, Socks, liked going off the trail so he had to work at keeping it going.
The trail was beautiful and they both came back in one piece.
Again we stopped in Bismarck to do some shopping and to eat supper on the way home. For our anniversary present we purchased a beautiful mirror for our new bathroom. I will have to take a picture of it once we get it hung.
We arrived back home late Friday evening where we found Elly happy to see us. It didn't take long to unload and put things away.
While it wasn't an exotic trip to Hawaii I found it perfect for us.
