My dear hubby cut down several small trees on the north side of our tree belt to use as a frame. We thought we could tie them together into a cube shape and cover the sides and top with leafy branches. Well...that didn't work as it wasn't very sturdy. So Tim had the idea of using our big evergreen tree and stand the poles up on each side of a big branch in a triangle shape. Then we covered the sides and top with the leafy branches. It was fun!
Then we put the little table and some chairs inside.
It smells so good in there, all fall-like.
We were rather proud of our creation even though we didn't decorate it much.
We enjoyed (a hint of sarcasm) a l-o-n-g day of school today. It seemed to go on forever. We did interrupt our day when I tried to take school pictures and found it too bright and windy. So we waited until this evening to do that. After we finished pictures we visited with middle son, Brandon, as he had brought the boat back home for storage, rode his 4-wheeler, and loaded one of our old snowmobiles that he plans to fix and get ready for winter. When he rode away to the neighbor's on his 4-wheeler we went for a walk.
Daniel came up with this contraption a few days ago and the children have been having fun ever since. On the way back from our walk Daniel was finding it difficult to pedal up a slight hill so we hooked Ellyana up to the front of the trike. She always has extra energy and pulls well. She got them home quickly and gave them quite a ride as she went through the ditch and up the other side.
By that time Brandon was back and gave Leah a ride on the 4-wheeler. Brandon finds good deals on toys that don't work and fixes them. He needs to have something to fix.
This week in CtG we have been studying ancient Egypt and the pyramids. For one of the science (and math) projects Daniel made a pyramid out of straws. Of course Leah wanted to make one as well and did a good job on it.
Daniel made a pyramid and a cube shape. He found that the pyramid was much sturdier which is one of the reasons the Egyptian pyramids are still standing so many thousand years later.
It's time for me to get my sweeties ready for bed. Good night.
