Snow, snow, and more snow...

...thankfully it hasn't been in great amounts.  It is cold out though.  We went to Fargo for appointments on Tuesday and really felt the cold then as the winds were blowing around 40 mph.  Tim took us so that was really nice.  I had an appointment with the endocrinologist's assistant for my thyroid check.  I have Hashimoto's Disease which causes hypothyroidism.  I won't have to go back until June though I will have blood tests in between then to check thyroid levels. 

Daniel had his vision therapy session with Dr. Agnes who says that Daniel is doing well.  Daniel will have his evaluation at the end of the month to see how much he has progressed.  It will be good to get feedback about that.

We shopped at Hornbachers which is right by Dr. Agnes's office.  I was appreciative that Tim took us home and carried all the groceries inside.

On Wednesday I had an appointment with my doctor in town as well as my monthly chiropractic appointment.  Tim stayed home with the children.  It was cold but didn't feel as bad as Tuesday since there wasn't the strong wind. 

It was nice to stay home yesterday.  I accomplished a lot of my cleaning, laundry, and baking.  I hadn't baked bread in a long time and was missing it.  Even though it was late in the afternoon I got a batch of whole grain wheat bread made as well as a batch of Carla's Grandma Mary's buns which I used some of the dough to make caramel rolls. 

School has gone well this week.  We had done one day of this week's school last week so we were able to take Tuesday off. 

In Kindergarten Leah is on I-i-insect.  Along with all the regular phonics and math work we have been reading about insects.  Leah's words to remember are, "I am a wise child, so I work hard."  We looked up and read several verses in the Bible about working hard.  One was in Proverbs 6 about the ant.  We read a great book about ants called, Ant Cities, that the children liked.  We read The Little Red Hen and some more verses in the New Testament about working.  And we read some about bees as well as several fiction stories about bugs.

Daniel has been reading about the plagues in Exodus this week.  Previously we had watched a couple movies about Moses and the Exodus.  We haven't done the activities where we make tons of green frogs and hide them all over the house.  I just wasn't up to it.  But Daniel did a great job narrating the account back to me after he read it from his Bible.

In math Daniel is learning about perpendicular and parallel lines.  He really doesn't like the word perpendicular and asks me not to say it.

In science Daniel has been reading about plants.  We did one experiment planting 4 different kinds of seeds.  Two of the kinds we planted in soil.  Two we planted in wet cotton balls.  One of the seeds planted in soil came up and is doing well.  The other was a green bean seed.  I had trouble getting them to come up in my garden this year, too.  The other seeds planted in the cotton sprouted but died.  Now we are to take the plant that did grow and put it into a covered box with dividers inside.  On each divider we are to cut a hole and one hole on the outside of the box so light can enter these holes and the plant can grow through these holes towards the light.  

In music the children and I listened to the rest of the Vivaldi CD.  In art we painted rocks to look like a rabbit.  They didn't turn out too well.  I think Leah's kindergarten activity will be better.  We will paint a smaller rock red and paint some black dots and head on it to look like a lady bug.

I see that more of the white stuff is falling.  I wonder how much we will get?
