Basement Work

The basement floor got poured on Tuesday.  We were all gone as Daniel had his appointment with Dr. Agnes in Fargo.  He got his last set of homework.  YAY!  He should be done the middle of December.  Whitney went along with us and we had an especially nice day.

Yesterday Dakota Valley brought our new hot water heater.  We wanted to move our water heater out of the middle of the basement but it needed to be vented out the chimney which we want to close off since it too is in the middle of the basement.  We decided to get an electric water heater.  It is guaranteed to last for life.  The bad thing is if our power goes out we won't have hot water.  No baths in a blizzard!

While the Dakota Valley man was here we asked him about relocating our furnace and redoing the duct work.  When Tim took off the old duct work we saw how dirty it was even though we recently had it cleaned.  We will have the furnace to the right of the water heater.  The old sewer pipes will be taken off and redone in a nicer way as well.

Where you see the wet cement on the wall is what got built yesterday.  Soon they will take the big beam out and close up the basement.  Where the ladder is setting is where our steps will be.  That door will be lowered to ground level.

The moon sure has been pretty.  I took this picture this morning.

Today starts the first home school skating for the season.  Since we rarely got to go last year we are planning on going this afternoon.  Both children are getting quite good at it.  I might even put on a pair of skates today.

WOW! They're moving right along. It looks great! I'm so glad that you will soon have a "Healthy" basement. :)

Did you end up going skating? My brothers and I really want to get an ice-skating rink set up across the road this year so we can skate whenever there is time to do so....

Have a happy Sabbath!
Love,
Cora
